This web page contains notes written by Marguerite Gailliard in August, 1944, during the liberation of the town Chateau Gontier in western France. The notes were copied from the originals by Jean-Pierre Gailliard (her grandson) in December, 2003. They were translated by Aaron Anthony Boone, Christine Jaqueline Colette Gailliard-Boone, and Jean-Pierre Gailliard in December, 2004. Marguerite and Jean-Pierre are shown below at about the time of this story. A pastel rendering of Marguerite in 1919 (she was 40) is also shown below.
